AUGUSTA, Ga. (Football) -- With 1:00 left on the clock in the fourth quarter,
Loranzo Hammonds and the Paine College offense went into the victory formation to take a knee and claim their first conference win in 52 years. The Lions' 45-34 victory is the second of the season and first win in SIAC play this year.

Greg Ruffin and the Paine College Lions finish the year with a 2-8 overall record and 1-6 (SIAC). Benedict College's season comes to a close with a 4-6 overall and 2-5 conference record.
Paine drew first blood as
Eddy Burton, Jr. would return a punt that was touched by the Benedict Tigers for the Lions first touchdown of the game with 12:43 left in the first quarter, 7-0.
Benedict answered back with Cameron Stover throwing two bombs to Jeremy Glinton. The first touchdown came when he connected with Glinton for 75 yards with 12:31 left in the first quarter, 7-7. The second touchdown came when he threw to Glinton again for 36 yards with 4:18 left, 14-7. The Tigers kicker, Tory Mimbs made both points after the score.
With 1:01 left in the first quarter, Hammonds called his own number and made a 1 yard run to the end zone and Ndizee made the point after, 14-14.
In the second quarter, the Tigers scored first with Stover throwing a 20 yard pass to Maurice Griffin and Mimbs makes the point after with 11:58 left, 21-14.
Hammonds threw a 10 yard pass to
Antonio White for a touchdown and Ndizee made the point after with 6:20 left in the second quarter, 21-21. Ndizee showed off his golden leg again when he kicked one right down the middle for a field goal with :15 left in the second quarter, 24-21.
After halftime, the Tigers drew first blood with 11:14 left in the third quarter as Kendariss Brown caught a 43 yard pass from Stover and Mimbs made the point after, 28-24.
Austin Beamus of Paine gave the answer for the Lions with 5:56 left in the third quarter. He caught a 21 yard pass from Hammonds and
Wisdom Nzidee made the point after, 31-28.
In the fourth quarter, Hammonds dialed up
Don Quarles, Jr. for a 25 yard pass reception for the Lions' touchdown with 12:04 left, 38-28. Paine's defense also came up huge as
Autis Gibson intercepted Stover's pass and ran it back for the touchdown with 3:17 left. Ndizee made the point after to bring the score to 45-28.
Not to be outdone, Stover and the Benedict offense got back in sync to allow him to sneak over the goal line. Stover ran the ball up the middle for 1 yard to claim a touchdown for the Tigers with 1:08 left in the fourth quarter, 45-34.
As a team, Paine finished the night with 340 total offensive yards, and five touchdowns. Hammonds ended the game 20 of 29 for 221 yards and three touchdowns. He was also the leading rushed for Paine with 15 carries for 40 yards.
Danny Wohlgemuth was the top receiver for the Lions today with seven catches for 77 yards. Ndizee was lights out for special teams as he went 6 of 6 in point after tries and 1 of 1 for field goals. The Paine College defense recorded 43 tackles, 7 tackles for losses, and four sacks.
Benedict ended the day with 521 total offensive yards. Stover finished the game 24 of 43 with one interception for 377 yards and five touchdowns. D. Jermal Wallace was the leading rusher for the Tigers with eight carries for 7 yards. Jeremy Glinton was the top receiver with five grabs for 133 yards and two touchdowns. Mimbs was 5 of 6 for point after tries and 0 of 1 in field goal attempts. Stephen Williams led the defense with eight solo tackles, one sack and four tackle for losses totaling 16 yards. The Tigers defense recorded 50 total tackles, four sacks and 12 tackle for losses.
